“FAILURE TO LAUNCH” AND dELAYED TRANSITION TO ADULT INDEPENDENCE

Are you a parent worried about your older teen or young adult child’s mental health or future? If so — you’re not alone. You may be seeing patterns that concern you: constant procrastination, emotional outbursts, low motivation, or fear of failure.

Maybe your child is bright and capable but can’t seem to move forward, and you’re unsure how to help without making things worse. I work with families to untangle what’s going on beneath the surface and build practical, sustainable paths forward—together.

I help parents and families support their adult child’s movement toward independence, by finding new ways to respond to:

  • Complex mental health concerns (e.g., mood disorders, school refusal, substance use)

  • “Failure to launch” challenges—when a child is stuck or unmotivated

  • ADHD and related executive function problems

  • Parenting burnout, confusion, and helplessness
