Specialty Areas
-
I specialize in working with ADHD across the lifespan. For teens and children I provide parent coaching and support, and for adults I can provide executive function support to manage ADHD symptoms. I can also consult with individuals and families on how to establish medication management or educational/work accommodations.
-
I specialize in working with adolescents (13-18) and provide individual therapy for anxiety, panic, OCD, trauma, depression, adjustment issues, grief, and major life transitions. For significant behavioral issues, school refusal, substance use, and family conflict, I provide parenting therapy.
I am also available for consultation on complex adolescent cases.
-
I’ve worked with children for over 15 years, and as a therapist I now focus on providing parent behavior training to understand and improve a variety of issues, including ADHD, anxiety, aggression, non-compliance, and school problems. I also provide consultation around education/environmental accommodations.
-
I enjoy working with families to help adult children move towards independence, and escape cycles of avoidance/anxiety and family conflict. Although in some cases I may work with an individual, I generally help young adults experiencing Failure to Launch by helping the other adults in the home with behavior change strategies.
I work with a wide range of issues, and every client has the right to determine their own goals and the focus of their therapy. Here are some of the areas I have specialized education, training, or experience working with:
-
School refusal/phobia/avoidance is a significant anxiety issue that can have long-term consequences for young people, and requires intervention at the family level. I work with parents to create and implement a strategic plan for getting their child back to school.
-
I provide short-term and ongoing consultation and parenting therapy to help parents of children and dependent adults with complex mental health issues such as:
ADHD, executive function problems, and learning difficulties
Failure to Launch (delayed independence)
School phobia, refusal, and dropout
Personality/mood disorders
I help parents achieve clarity about what they can control, and change the patterns that have been leading to helplessness, frustration, and parent burnout.
-
I provide cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety, panic attacks, and sleep problems. I am trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, as well as exposure and response therapy for anxiety problems across the lifespan.
-
I work with kids, teens, and adults who have experienced traumatic events, and can provide cognitive therapy for trauma (CPT, TF-CBT) as well as somatic therapy (Lifespan Integration).
